Drive For Distance

Hitting the driver farther is something that appeals to any golfer no matter what their playing level is. While most golfers are always working on some aspect of their game, trying to get a few extra yards from the driver is something that gets a lot of their attention. There are many ways to do this, but there is no single way that is guaranteed to work for everybody. A lot of golfers will find themselves taking one step forward only to take two steps back.

It is then time to regroup, and try a new strategy while hoping that a bad habit hasn't been learned. It is no secret that it will involve plenty of practice to improve your driving distance. You just have to find the right techniques for your individual golf game, since no two people have the same golf game. Trial and error is probably the most common way that most players have found works best for them. While the driver itself is at times the reason for shorter distances from the tee, it is usually the person swinging the club that has the issues. A custom fit driver could make a small improvement but to get the most out of your drives, it's going to boil down to you making some changes in the way you play the game. Besides, most weekend golfers don't want to invest in a custom fitted driver.

One of the best things you can do to improve your driving distance is to simply warm up before you play. Running in place, some jumping jacks, or any other light exercises along with some light stretching will prepare not only your body but also your mind for the upcoming game. If possible, get a bucket of balls and head over to the driving range. The driving range will get your swing muscles primed and it will also help you find your groove before stepping up to the first tee. There's nothing more embarrassing than stepping up on the first tee and whiffing your first drive.

Light exercises along with light stretching and spending a little bit of time at the driving range can work wonders on your golf game. You'll get some mental clarity while at the driving range and it'll help you avoid focusing so much on your swing needs. So many golfers are so consumed with focusing on what they are supposed to do that they forget how important it is to actually feel the game. After all, golf is a game that requires feel. Visiting the driving range before a round of golf will help get a feel of how your game is going on that day. You've probably noticed how more experienced players always hit the driving range before they take to the course.

The secret to hitting the driver farther is really no secret. A simple warm up of light exercises and light stretching along with a little time at the driving range will have you hitting the ball farther in no time. Don't just hit your driver at the range, make sure to include your other clubs as well. Make this a habit and there will be no reason for you not to be hitting the long ball.
